About the Rankings
U.S. News & World Report is known for it national rankings of the best. The rankings began in 1983 with the first publication of the best colleges list. The rankings expanded to include the best hospitals, jobs, cars, places to live, and vacation destinations. The rankings also include the best law firms.
To rank the best law firms, U.S. News & World Report implements a meticulous assessment process. That process includes surveys completed by peers and clients addressing a firm’s expertise, responsiveness, understanding of clients’ needs, cost-effectiveness, civility, and whether they would refer another client to the firm. Data is also collected from lawyers who are recognized as the “Best Lawyers in America”.
The data is combined into an overall score for each law firm. U.S. News & World Report then categorizes the best law firms in tiers, from Tier 1 to Tier 3, and reports the list of best firms by state. The list is published in November. In the most recent rankings, the Dominy Law Firm was listed as a “Tier 1 Best Law Firm” for DUI / OVI defense and a “Tier 2 Best Law Firm” for General Criminal Defense.
